Wavebid Alternatives in 2026, Priced by Lot Volume

Wavebid is ATG-owned with no public prices. The alternatives that do publish, priced at 500, 2,000, and 5,000 lots a month, and where Gavelist fits.

Wavebid describes itself as "Auction cataloging, marketing and managing made easy," and it is owned by Auction Technology Group (ATG), the group behind Proxibid and LiveAuctioneers. Wavebid publishes no prices, so you cannot compare it on paper. This guide does the part you can: it prices the alternatives that do publish, at three monthly lot volumes, and maps each to the Wavebid job it would take over. Gavelist is one of the options, for the cataloging job only.

Published September 2026 by Ben Cope, founder of Gavelist. Vendor facts come from each vendor's own published pages, accessed September 2026.

Wavebid in four verified facts

  • Ownership. According to ATG's brands page (accessed September 2026), Wavebid is an ATG brand whose suite "features tools for cataloging, clerking, accounting, and marketing." Wavebid's login page carries a copyright notice naming "Proxibid Inc. t/a Wavebid."
  • Products. Wavebid's home page (accessed September 2026) lists three product tabs: Cataloging, Marketing, and Clerking.
  • Partners. The same page announces partnerships with Live Auction Group and Marknet Alliance.
  • Price. As of September 2026, the wavebid.com/pricing address opens a login form rather than a price list.

What the published alternatives cost at your volume

Every option below publishes a price, but each prices on a different unit: per lot, per listing tier, per seat, or flat. The only fair comparison is at a given monthly volume. These are the lowest published plans that cover each volume for the job named, software fees only, accessed September 2026. Estimint counts listings, treated here as one listing per lot.

Option Wavebid job it takes over 500 lots/mo 2,000 lots/mo 5,000 lots/mo
Gavelist Cataloging (descriptions from photos) $75 (pay-as-you-go) $160 (Pro, 2,500 lots) $250 (Enterprise)

Notes on the table:

  • Gavelist. Plans are $0.15 per lot pay-as-you-go, $79 for 1,000 lots, $160 for 2,500, and $250 for 5,000, and Gavelist takes 0% of auction sales. Gavelist does not clerk or invoice.
  • Estimint. According to Estimint's pricing page (September 2026), its $29 (300 listings) and $89 (1,500 listings) plans exclude clerking, invoices, and settlements, which start at the $149 Auction Pro plan (3,500 listings).
  • AuctionMethod. According to AuctionMethod's pricing page (September 2026), consignor management is a separate $75 per month add-on plus $50 activation. AuctionMethod states: "There's never any platform skim or additional per-lot, event, or photo charges."
  • Auction Flex 360. According to Auction Flex's pricing page (September 2026), sales with online bidders on HiBid add a 2% auction fee, $0.25 per unique bid (capped at $150 per auction), and a $75 setup fee per webcast auction. The desktop version starts at $85 per month for one workstation. Our Auction Flex alternatives guide prices every tier.
  • BidWrangler. According to BidWrangler's website (September 2026), it is "Independently Owned" and includes built-in AI cataloging tools; no price list is published.

Replacing only Wavebid's cataloging tab

If Wavebid's clerking and marketing tabs are working, the smallest change is to take over the writing and leave Wavebid in place. Gavelist writes 1,000+ lots in about 10 minutes on the description pass, reading every photo attached to a lot together, and hands Wavebid one catalog file per sale: a universal CSV/XLS formatted for Wavebid import. According to Gavelist production data through September 22, 2026, 88 percent of lots exported by Gavelist clients shipped with the AI description unedited, excluding Gavelist's largest client (96 percent including it); unedited means the client saved no edit to the AI title or description. The steps are in how to export your auction catalog to Wavebid.

Estimint's own Wavebid page puts Gavelist among "cataloging-only tools" and says pairing one with Wavebid means "paying for two systems and moving files between them, which is fine at low volume and tiresome at high volume." Gavelist is a cataloging layer, so the two-systems point is fair. At 2,000 lots a month, Gavelist's side of that pairing is $160, and the file step is one upload per sale. One high-volume estate auction house used Gavelist to catalog 10,235 lots in six weeks, documented in our high-volume case study.

Where the catalog goes after Wavebid

The same Gavelist catalog is not tied to Wavebid. Gavelist exports ready-made files for HiBid, LiveAuctioneers, Proxibid, BidWrangler, and AuctionNinja, an eBay Seller Hub bulk-listing file, and a universal CSV/XLS formatted for import by AuctionZip, AuctionMethod, Wavebid, AuctionFlex 360, and any other spreadsheet-import platform. HiBid is the most common destination: two out of three Gavelist customer accounts that exported a catalog from June to September 2026 exported a HiBid file. So if you leave Wavebid for a HiBid-based back office, the catalog comes with you.

Leaving Wavebid entirely

If Gavelist already writes your catalogs, the catalog half of a move is done before you start: Gavelist keeps each sale's lots and re-exports them in any of Gavelist's export formats, including a universal CSV/XLS, so nothing is retyped. What Gavelist does not hold is Wavebid's clerking record, meaning bidders, settlements, and consignor payouts, and that is what to plan the move around with the new vendor. Our catalog migration guide covers the catalog side step by step.
